About Modular Steel Guarding

ARK Automation is a top distributor of Modular Steel Guarding, also known as perimeter guarding. Here is why it could be beneficial for you.

Today, to compete in the manufacturing world, companies need to re-use as much existing equipment or even guarding as possible. Currently, the automotive sector is seeing programs get shorter or even canceled. So, cells need a design or re-configuration at minimal cost.

Configurable, easy, and no welding.

We carry a line of Modular Steel Guarding that allows you to configure or reconfigure cell guarding while on site. Additionally, the modular system allows you to customize on the floor with minimal tools and no welding or repainting.

Furthermore, the mesh panels have a design for quick and easy installation. The bottom corners hook into special style clips that attach to the post. This feature also allows for quick and easy access to a cell for maintenance and repair purposes.

With unique panel design, you can customize or change panels onsite to create openings. Such openings could be for conveyors carrying the product into or out of cells. Modular Steel Guarding provides the ultimate flexibility when designing guarding.

Sizes and Features

Mesh panels come in standard sizes ranging in width from 300 mm to 3000 mm in 150 mm increments. The guarding is available in 5 different heights – 1570 mm, 1870 mm, 2170 mm, 2470 mm and 3070 mm. Panel frames are a 38 mm x 38 mm formed angle. Standard welded wire mesh is available in 2″ x 2″ and 1″ x 1″. Additionally, custom panel types are also available, including:

  • Weld Screen (Red, Yellow, Dark Green and Blue)
  • Lexan Panels
  • Solid Steel Panels

All material is 100% powder coated. The external form of the panels are powder coated yellow while the wire mesh is powder coated black. Custom colors are also available. All nuts, bolts and clips are zinc plated for durability.

What is Perimeter Guarding?

Perimeter Guarding is another phrase for modular guarding, which is a barrier or fencing that typically surrounds automated machinery. Perimeter guarding is used to protect both the machinery itself and employees, especially for preventing injury. Additional attachments such as light curtains and safety relays may be added for extra protection. Weld screen can also be attached to control arc flashes or high exposure of UV light inside the cell. Panel configurations can also be made to have stainless steel panels or Lexan panels. The difference between perimeter guarding and modular guarding is that modular guarding can be configured and designed to customers needs effectively and effeciently in-shop or on the work site immediately from ARK Automation.
